You’ll often hear us talk about our fantastic team of International Trade Advisers (ITAs). But what exactly do they do? And how can they help you on your exporting journey? We caught up with one of our ITAs, Alison Avery, to find out.
Alison joined the Chamber of Commerce seven years ago to sell international trade courses. Over the years she’s progressed through the ranks, managing the export documentation team for two years.
Alison has been an ITA for the last couple of years and has helped support the export of all types of products – from animal feed to fireworks. This makes her the perfect person to handle a round of quick fire questions.
What does a typical day look like for you?
100% of my working day is dedicated to my team and my clients.
What types of support can a business expect from you?
Whatever their question I try to find a solution, however large or small.
What type of businesses do you work with?
I have a range of clients and DIT can support all types of businesses.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being an ITA?
Helping small businesses to grow their revenue through international trade and giving them the confidence to export.
Which markets would you recommend to businesses exporting this year?
It depends on what a business has to offer and which market has a demand for it. Generally speaking, the eastern European countries are very buoyant at the moment.
