Digital series aims to help local businesses reach a global audience

Coventry is hosting a two-part digital series for West Midlands businesses so they can become more savvy with overseas sales and reach a global audience through online marketing.

Organised and funded by the West Midlands Chambers of Commerce’s ERDF SME International Growth Project, the Digital Series takes place at the Ramada Hotel and Suites, Earlsdon, Coventry, in July and comprises two morning workshops that will help companies reach two billion consumers around the world.

Andy Smith, international relations manager for the SME International Growth Project, said: “For any business to thrive in the online market place, it’s absolutely essential to understand what digital tools are at your disposal to help you develop a strategy and to see what your competitors are doing.

“It sounds daunting, but our two-part digital series, led by experts in their field, will help to demystify the process and enable businesses to change the way they approach online selling. It’s a real must for anyone serious about going global.”

The first part takes place on Thursday, July 12 and focuses search engine optimisation (SEO) and international e-market places. It will go through how to get your website ranked in Google, how to develop a content plan, keyword research, and backlinks.

The workshop will also take participants through online tools that can help your business grow, e-marketplaces and how to identify the ones that are best for your business, and how to rank highly on Amazon.

The second part of the digital series takes place on Thursday, July 26 and will focus on building brand recognition through international online advertising, how to use Google AdWords and Facebook ads, and provide an overview of Google Shopping.
